Maybe you saw a signed card at your grocery store. Maybe the cashier was wearing a pin that said “Ask Me About Delivering Hope.” Maybe you were asked to make a donation as you entered a store in exchange for a button.
What exactly is Delivering Hope?
Delivering Hope is a way for people to share the bounty of the holiday season during November and December by making a donation to AgeWell Services of West Michigan and support area seniors.
For a small donation of $1 to $5, anyone can write their names on a card or receive a special “Delivering Hope” button. Donation cannisters are located in Driftwood Café at Tanglewood Park, Orchard Markets in Spring Lake and Fruitport, Hardings of North Muskegon and Montague Foods. You can also make a gift online.
Orchard Markets have gone the extra step to add the campaign to its self-serve check-out stations and creates a friendly competition between cashiers with prizes for the person who raises the most.
All funds raised support AgeWell Services’ meals programs, including Meals on Wheels, Lunch & Activity Centers and Discount Dining throughout Muskegon, Ottawa and Oceana counties. In a typical month, AgeWell Services provides about 57,525 meals for seniors in the three-county area.
Demand continues to grow for home-delivered meals and increasing attendance at Lunch & Activity Centers. AgeWell Services continues to face food product shortages, along with an overall increase of 14.4% in fuel and food costs.
“The best thing about Delivering Hope is that anyone can help feed seniors,” Advancement Specialist Colleen Steinman said. “The collective power of everyone’s extra change or few dollars really adds up! Even people who have limited means can make a difference with this campaign.”
Last year, the campaign raised nearly $6,000.00 and this year’s goal is to raise $8,000.
