Stronger Together: Staying Connected!
This year’s Senior Symposium builds on last year’s “Together Again” theme by celebrating that we are stronger together and when we are staying connected!
The day starts with a continental breakfast and a morning filled with informative presentations including Dementia Friends: Turn Understanding into Action; Palliative Care: A Team Approach to Living with Serious Illness; Power of Attorney and Advance Planning: Your Person, Your Plan; Predatory Lending and Reverse Mortgages: Protecting Your Future; and Not Everyone is a Friend: Watching Out For Scams.
After the presentation, you’ll have the opportunity to visit our Expo to get information on services that help us age in the best way… plus they usually have some fun giveaway items! We’re back at the Folkert Community Hub banquet room this year; they have a beautiful new space for the Expo.
The event this year is on June 14, during the week of World Elder Abuse Awareness Day (WEADD) on June 15. The purpose of WEAAD is to provide an opportunity for communities around the world to promote a better understanding of abuse, neglect, and exploitation of older persons. Raising awareness of this important topic and talking about it helps us watch out for ourselves and our loved ones.
So please join us on June 14 from 8:00 to 2:00 as we stay connected and learn together. The Symposium is free, but you need to register to reserve a spot (to make sure we have your breakfast and lunch ready!)
You can register online here: safeseniors.info/symposium2023/ or you can register by calling AgeWell Services at 231.733.8643 or 800.442.6769. Register by June 7 to secure your spot!
Hope to see you there!
